Thanks so much for all of the updates from Virginia and Connecticut. It sounds like all is well on the East coast! I'm so excited for Josh to go through the temple. We all know he was born ready to be a missionary and this first of many steps is going to be an exciting one! My first time was incredible. I pray you will have an equally amazing experience. I'm also happy to hear that Quinn reception was fun! I wouldn't expect anything less from such an amazing family. Thanks for representing the fam Chels and Kev! Ah, just so glad all around. So happy you got to talk to Sr Orton. Isn't she incredible. Heavenly Father seriously blessed me to have her as a companion. I know she loves me but I don't doubt she was blowing things out of proportion. I am EXTREMELY humbled to be here and am still working on filling her very big shoes. I got her 7 page letter today and need to read it at least 5 more times to soak it all up. Tell her that the key to being smart is studying a LOT. She already knows this but I try and go over things that I have learned in studies throughout the day. I think that MOM you were the one who told me about this... Elder Eyring had a question and his dad asked him something like how long have you been thinking about it. He realized that the key to finding answers and remembering things was to be constantly thinking about them. Sr Orton is actually the one who told me this but I am always trying to quiz myself throughout the day. I also have to write things down over and over.
OK, so to this week! I love our couple we're teaching! They weren't able to make it to church on sunday, L. has a bad back hahaha not that funny in light of what happened with Sr Orton:) Anyways we taught them the plan of salvation on friday night and they just ate it up! I. was asking if the spirit world was the same as pergutory and we didn't even have the time to explain. L. just jumped in and explained that the spirit world is where we wait before we are judged, then we hopefully make it to the celestial kingdom. That's our goal, the celestial kingdom. It was so amazing! She is so open and I pray we will be able to continue to work together towards Christ.
We also had the awesome opportunity to teach english class on Friday night! Talk about communication barrier:) Sr Shannon had to go to DMB so I was left alone! It was definitely a two way learning process, the francaphones correcting me and me doing my best to correct them. We ended up talking all about food and how to make purchases at a grocery store. Hahaha Maury! I need some pointers! We are in charge again next week and I am determined to actually help. I sent a package today with the sim card- let me know when it gets there! One last thought before I go...sorry this email hasnt been packed with doctrine or spiritual experieneces but they are there, no doubt about it. I read 2 Ne 28 this week, line upon line, precept on precept, the more we receive. I want to be good at all these things RIGHT now but I am learning that with the Lord we have the chance to learn little by little. The more we are open to Him, open to the spirit and RESPOND in our actions, the more he gives. We are responsible for what we receive. Heavenly Father already knows what we need. We just have to ask and he is there to give it. We demonstrate our faith by receiving, applying and changing. I love missionary work. I love Heavenly Father. I love you! Josh good luck this week!
